I know, I've disappeared and I apologize so much!
In the last months I've been taking a Master in Art Direction for Advertising in Milan.
It is a very interesting and inspirational world, so it has been taking most of my time so far.
I've put the illustrations on hold which is quite a mistake, I am coming back soon, promise!
On the good news side, my classically animated short "Boogers" was screeened in Hong Kong, along with a bunch of very talented artists from my origin's area.
It was a pleasure and honor and I want to thanks the "Fogolar Furlan Hong Kong" for the great opportunity given.
Here a sample of the flyers given at the event:
In case you haven't seen the short, you can find it here:

Thanks all!

Unleashing your potential
Today I asked on twitter a subject to draw and the very talented _Octavia_ (go follow!) suggested the "potential" part of a monologue by Dylan Moran, which I find hilarious (and sad, at the same time)
Here's the clip:
Here's the clip:
The composition popped into my head immediately and I decided to focus on the little poor thing.
No, it's not mud.
Hope you enjoy!
As usual, please view in full size.

Pan
This week Illustration Friday topic was Myth.
During High School, I've studied tons of acient greek and latin mythology and I always loved the subject.
So, at the beginning I wanted to portrait Hades, which actually used to be painted and sculpted as a chill guy with a cool beard.
Alto, the idea I had in mind required a vertical format and this time I wanted to do something horizontal.
So I remembered one of my favorite tricksters: Pan, which will be used in modern literature, comics, movies and videogames as an archetype upon which many characters will be based on.
Also, Satan.
I guess that running after all those nymphs gave him quite the reputation.
Poor Pan.
I've been more graceful to him and painted him as a peaceful guy.
Hope you enjoy!

The Edge
This week's Illustration Friday topic was: Edge.
I hope all of you had a great Holiday, I know I did, despite sickness.
Maybe I took the theme too literal but it was kinda guided by the feel of it.
Hope you enjoy!

Train Sketching
Yesterday, while traveling on the train back home, I found my beloved Indigo Blue Prismacolour and decided to sketch a bit.
So, after cafè sketching, here is some train sketching, hope you enjoy!
I apologize for the poor quality phone-like pictures in advance.
So it all starts with a Bear-Finn-like-blob:
And its stupid version.

Afterwards I dida couple of sketches that started with a random line and of course, got some old butt and a suspicious looking little fella:
Then noticed this woman with really nice hair next to me and some severe look on her face:
And finished with a caricature
This is it for now, next step: this Illustration Friday theme, stay tuned!

New Head...er!
Hello!
You might have noticed some restyling around here.
I finally took the time to create an appropriate header for the blog.
The girl should be me, even to I'm sure the resemlence is not quite there yet but what I really liked during the process of creating this piece, was taking confidence with Photoshop's brushes customization.
So it all started from some lines:
Went on with some colors:
And finally added some touchups:

Is it Friday yet?
I know, it's barely Monday and I'm posting my contribution for this week's Illustration Friday.
I did a lot of sketches this time, before deciding the subject I was going to draw.
Despite all the nervous ones, the most peaceful and colorful won: good job subconscious.
All done in PS CS6 with a Intuos 4 Wireless Medium.
This week theme was: stretch

Illustration Friday
Incase you didn't know, there is a very nice initiative from Illustration Friday .
How it works: every week a topic is chosen and you have time up to friday to submit your interpretation of it.
It's a neat way to remember to keep drawing like the dickens!
This weeks topic is: Whiskers.
My interpretation of it came in an attempt to test a new tablet I bought (an Intuos 4 wireless, M) and to mainly get used to the new Photoshop (is it new just for me? I kinda feel like it).
Some new brushes are really nice, the next step would be to get a pc which doesn't give me a heart attack crashing the software because it's too old.

Graduated!
Some time passed since my last post and a lot of things happened.
Yes, I graduated, now some months ago with my little 3D Animation project.
It was a blast and a real challenge at the same time.
Right now I am a bit resting from the two very intense years spent at Vancouver Film School but I have a lot of things in mind, stay tuned and thanks for reading!

First Rough Animatic
As promised: the very first animatic for my 3D short here at Vancouver Film School.
It is a rough version and, as you could guess, it's pretty different right now.
I'll tell you the only things left are a little girl (with a different design) and a yoghurt.
Hope you enjoy.
(I know, "Home Alone" is copyrighted).
